Welcome to 5th Grade Virtual Music!
For the first few days of this new and anxiety-producing time of our lives, it’s good to just absorb and appreciate music and the comfort it can offer. At the end of this document there is a “Suggested Listening” Section. I encourage you to do a little listening each day in addition to what is below!
I will be including some resources if you have a ukulele, recorder, guitar or piano on the Resources for Everyone page!
Week 1:
Do the “CodeBreaker” worksheet for treble clef. Remember, “The Staff has Five...” poem, and that that goes from bottom to top. Try not to use the cheat-sheet at the top too often. Give yourself a minute to try and figure it out first!
Remember, as notes get higher, you go forward in the alphabet...
Watch Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto Here: https://youtu.be/rEGOihjqO9w
Watch 3-5 minutes of each movement.
Here are the start times in the video:
Mvt. 1: Beginning
Mvt. 2: 11:30
Mvt. 3: 23:49
Think about:
● How does this music make me feel?
● What do I think of when I hear this music?
● If this were in a movie, what would be happening?
Fill out the listening log.
Week 2:
Do the “CodeMaker” worksheet for treble clef.
More things will be posted in your 5th grade Google Classroom, so be sure to check it!
Band Students:
We’ll have some really cool stuff up soon, still working on getting the tech all set up!
